Canfei Nesharim ("the wings of eagles") is an organization of Orthodox Jews who are dedicated to educating the Orthodox community about the importance of protecting the environment from the perspective of Jewish tradition and Halacha. Our goal is to help Orthodox Jews understand the halachos that are relevant to environmental protection, the significant environmental challenges being faced in the world, and empower them to take actions which will make a difference in addressing those challenges.
The Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life was founded in 1993 to promote environmental education, scholarship, advocacy, and action in the American Jewish community. COEJL is sponsored by a broad coalition of national Jewish organizations and has organized regional affiliates in communities across North America. COEJL is the Jewish member of the National Religious Partnership for the Environment. Co-op America's mission is to harness economic power -- the strength of consumers, businesses and the marketplace -- to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable society. Co-op America focuses on economic and business strategies because, in our industrial age, the economic sector dominates public and private life. Business is its primary player. If we want a society that respects people and the planet, we need to change the way society does business. Co-op America has a membership base of over 50,000 consumer activists and 2,500 responsible businesses (the Co-op America Business Network). We also manage the programs of the Social Investment Forum (500 businesses), the national trade organization for socially responsible investing professionals. The Green Restaurant Association (GRA), a national non-profit organization, provides services in research, consulting, education, marketing and community organizing. The GRA utilizes a collaborative strategy that involves restaurants, manufacturers, vendors, grassroots organizations, government, media, and restaurant customers. The GRA's model provides a convenient way for all sectors of the restaurant industry, which represents 10% of the U.S. economy, to become more environmentally sustainable. The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) The OCA is a grassroots non-profit public interest organization which deals with crucial issues of food safety, industrial agriculture, genetic engineering, corporate accountability, and environmental sustainability. We are the only organization in the US focused exclusively on representing the views and interests of the nation's estimated ten million organic consumers. The Organic Trade Association (OTA) is a membership based business association representing the organic industry in Canada, the United States and Mexico. Members include growers, shippers, processors, certifiers, farmer associations, brokers, manufacturers, consultants, distributors and retailers.
